Hibbett SportsA door cluster framework built on the retailer's own three store types

Jimmy told Hibbett Sports that with three consumer types it was in essence three different companies, then built Nike's assortment plan around the three profiles the retailer had already defined.

What it is

Hibbett Sports ran more than 1,100 doors in small and mid-sized markets. Its target markets had populations under 75,000. The account deck counted 281 stores with no competitor inside a 15 minute drive. Hibbett had typed its own stores by consumer: 338 Fashion doors, 461 Athletic doors and 311 Sport doors.

Nike sold to the chain through category catalogs. Jimmy's notes to the account were plain about the history. The focus had been on breadth. Now it had to be on what was working.

He took Hibbett Sports and Shoe Palace together in March 2016 as his third marketplace assignment. He led a team of four and carried men's training and team sports himself.
